Our Work

WHAT WE DO

We strive to do it all here at Corry Williams Art Foundation. Our Non-Profit Organization provides a dynamic art environment where exposure is front and center with the goal of developing the community. We work on many exciting initiatives to expand the perception of art in underserved communities, and are very proud of the work we do. Our goal is to provide holistic services, education, training and development skills to assist in transitioning children to becoming successful adults.  To accomplish this goal we provide educational and training programs to young girls and boys. Through our educational art centric programs children are taught  critical thinking skills to utilize when making choices.  The strategies used within the art programs encourages the avoidance of negative behavior and equips children with good decision making skills.  One consistent goal of the foundation is to provide art events and programs at no fee to the community. Learn about our exciting initiatives, and what we are working on every day in order to promote change.

OUR BELIEF

One Step at a Time

We believe that teaching Art in various forms empowers children to open their minds beyond what they see within their community. People also can change their circumstances through exposure to improved living environments, thereby creating change at the community level. The designer Giancarlo Mazzanti said it well: “The first step toward quality is the dignity of the space, and its way of showing another path.”Our art training programs come in different forms but are not limited to: doll making, money management, mosaic art, oil painting, after school matters, and S.T.E.A.M(Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).  The hope is that the children will learn to set educational and career goals through hardwork, commitment, workplace development and service to their community.

CHICAGO SCHOOLS ART CONTEST

Encouraging art in every medium

The Corry Williams Art Foundation works closely with high schools in the Chicago area. Each month during the school year, the foundation selects a high school to participate in a school wide art contest. All submissions are posted online for voting purposes and monetary prizes are awarded. Our goal is to encourage art as a serious craft, a fun hobby or a healthy outlet for students. We are always striving to make a difference and offer alternatives to standard youth talents.

ARTS & CRAFTS CLASSES

What We Can Do

With our goal of using art as a tool and a connector, we work tirelessly to create and provide art classes that create food for thought. Our classes are open to everyone with special consideration given to our youth. From doll making to jewelry making classes, we have artists come in share their talents.
